A family member asked my opinion on how I would respond to her friend that shared a doom and gloom story about the state of the nation. I guess, in a friendly way, they go back and forth on occasion since each shares a different philosophy on the state of the world. Okay, one subscribes to one political philosophy and the other to another. Everyone usually has some friends that they share polite disagreements with when it comes to political, social, and economic topics. In response to the doom and gloom article, this is my best answer.
140 million are working and around 12 million are not. What’s the difference? There are 100’s of thousands of unfilled jobs but they require some specific skill, knowledge, training, or education. What do we know about millions of people? They make very little effort in life. Okay, hold on. This certainly does not mean that everyone unemployed falls into this category. You may not see that so many people are like this because the people you hang around aren’t these people, but they are out there in droves. They don’t get off of the couch, make a real effort, and they barely prepare themselves.
What do many then do in return to help these people, like the person writing this news op-ed article? They feed their excuse bank and keep them thinking negative. They give them a strong arsenal of people, events, and things to blame, all the while never addressing the actions of the person. They help feed their dependency by constantly fighting for and giving them the unearned. They tell them why what belongs to others is deserved by them. The simple question for these people, which they will never attempt to answer because the answer is so clear, is how do you explain the 100 million plus not affected by all of the things this guy writes about?
Show me a responsible person that makes good decisions, makes a real effort, and who is constantly improving their value in the marketplace and I will show you a person living a pretty nice life. If more people were like that, articles like this wouldn’t even exist. In fact, we might be down to a one party system. Blame, complain, and make excuses is all that many people know, and many media outlets are happy to feed them a steady diet of it. Almost always, the difference between the haves and have-nots is that the haves are not buying into what a paid op-ed writer is spewing. The have-nots are soaking it all in. Ya, tax the rich!! Brilliant.
Think about this. Why do articles like this even exist? Because it is a media outlet that is trying to survive by selling news to generate some ad revenue. Why it partially works, not very well since very few news outlets are making it, is because there are large number of complainers and blamers that they are trying to appeal to. That's their customer base. If they can’t make something negative, they don’t have a news story, at least that is what they have convinced themselves. I’ll assure this in terms of young people and their future. Show me a young person that is making a solid effort to better themselves and be responsible and they are going to be just fine. It’s too bad guys like this article writer have to compound the problem for many by filling them with why they can’t instead of why they can. That’s a very common trait among certain groups. Misery loves company, I guess.
