Uninvited Guests: Don't Let Them In

This guest does not even need an invitation, and once they are in, they will not leave. In fact, just a slightly opened door is enough for this unruly guest to stick in his big foot and push his way in. Once in, this guest takes over and brings in his buddies, lots and lots of buddies. At this point, they will not ask for permission, but they will take over everything including your utilities, food, car, home, resources and your life. This guest is resilient. You can fight to kick them out, but once you make the invitation, or give any sign that it is okay, you are done. There will be no turning back.

A similar guest was kicked out of this country over 200 years ago for good reason. You may know that story. It is amazing just how intelligent those people were back then to keep him in check. This current guest is useful, for his original intended purpose, but he has some negative similarities to the original.  As he recruits, grows, invades, and keeps taking, he sucks the motivation, incentive, spirit, and lifeblood out of the people around him. This guest and his gang will work hard to convince you that you need them in your life, but you do not. The end results are clear to see, if you look, or care.

If you do get him under control temporarily, he will still come back at you even more determined to let himself in and involved with your life. This time he will have even more members, more slogans, and more promises of something for nothing. Oh, there is a price, a big price. In almost all countries, this guest has completely taken over. The end result is the same every time, dependency, less opportunity, no incentive, low standards of living, and a long life of mediocrity. These people do not even know what they are missing anymore. Their motivation and spirit is gone. That is what happens when incentive is lost. The host just gives in, gives up, and just learns to live with them. It is too big of a guest to move.

The best example I can think of is a story I once heard about Charles Manson and his gang making their way into Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys’ home back in the 60's. The end result, Brian gave in and moved out of his own house. Giving in is easy. Many of us are doing useful productive things with our lives, such as working hard, building businesses, raising families, etc. People often do not have the energy and means to fight. It is like tenants who take over your rental property and will not leave; the only option is to go to court and work to get the laws changed. Nobody has time or an interest in such a thing. But if you don't, the pendulum continues to swing to the renter. They now have the rights, you do not.

For its originally intended purpose, government is a magnificent entity. A government should protect its people and protect individual rights. For the most part, they do this pretty well. Okay, let's throw in building roads, as this is always brought up when someone tries to justify a burgeoning government. After my annual drive across country recently, they sure make a peaceful drive fairly miserable with endless construction at least every 100 miles.

Government was not established to motivate you, provide for you, feed you, buy you cars, or anything else. They are there to ensure that you have the freedom and protection to do these things on YOUR OWN. Do not go through life factoring in and inviting the government into your life plans and happiness. That is not what successful people do.
