What Would You Do With Your Money?

Consider this for a moment. If you work 8 hours per day, 4 hours of your effort goes to pay some form of tax. This means that you work nearly six months each year to pay taxes. Let's say instead of six months of your earnings going to pay taxes, what if it was only four months? So, take two months of earnings and ask yourself / daydream about what you would do with it.

Would you... Save it? Buy something for your family? Eat better quality food? Buy a safer / better car? Pay off debts? Help out your parents? Make a donation? Start a hobby? Take a nice vacation? I guess the possibilities are endless.

So you are not really sure where this 50% number came from? It's accurate and well documented, and in many circumstances it is much more than 50%. Below is partial breakdown of the taxes you pay. Remember, it is your money.

Federal, state and local income taxes
Payroll taxes (Social Security / Medicare)
Sales and excise taxes
Corporate income taxes (Business passes on taxes to its customers, employees and shareholders in terms of higher prices for every product you buy.)
Property taxes

Vehicle Registration
Gasoline
Building Permit
Capital Gains
CDL license
Cigarette
Dog License
Fishing License
Fuel permit

...it is endless

Next time you hear someone talk about taking more money from you, you may want to keep in mind that you already give, a lot. Sure, you have to pay something for a functioning government, but come on, six months of earnings? If you want your blood to really boil, think about how inefficiently your money is used once it is taken from you. Think about the millions of people who make very little effort in life and who are the recipients of your hard-earned money. Think about the groups screaming and fighting hard everyday for what is rightfully yours. Want a raise? Figure out how to lower your taxes.
